10 Perfect Picnics

It’s a sad truth that summer is far too short, so make the most of it and spend as much time as you can outdoors by packing a picnic and dining alfresco. We’ve assembled a list of our favourite Places to Picnic in Calgary to help you do just that.

Weaselhead
This 237 hectare natural environment park is home to the only delta in the city. After sussing out the bars, channels and marsh areas, families can take a hike along groomed paths to find the perfect dining spot. Washrooms and water fountains operate during the summer months.

Sikome Lake
We don’t have many swimmable public lakes in Calgary—which is what makes Sikome so special. Spend a sunny day soaking up the rays on this man-made beach before cooling off in the lake. Don’t fret if you forgot your picnic provisions—a concession stand has you covered. Good to know: access by Bow Bottom Trail SE or Sun Valley Boulevard SE off Highway 22x.

‘Tis the season to not waste another minute of sunshine. Pack up that picnic basket and head off to one of our Places to Picnic in Calgary.
