Oh, donuts, how we love thee. Your sticky sweet goodness is as beloved by our kids as it is by us, and the only way you could possibly be improved upon is if every time we ordered you, we got a custom creation made just the way we like it. In Ottawa, this is a reality thanks to Maverick’s Donut Company.

Head to the Blue Heron Mall on Bank Street to find Maverick’s special twist on the artisanal donut scene. Not only do they have signature flavours like their Wake’n Bacon or Lemon Ricotta (both are drool worthy), but they are inviting customers to get creative with a make-your-own-donut bar. Can’t make it to Bank Street? They also deliver.

For each of your custom donuts, you can pick a delicious glaze (chocolate might be a favourite, but the maple is a sweet treat!) and then a topping. Each donut comes with one choice of topping, and additional toppings are fifty cents each. The topping choices are far from boring. You may have trouble choosing from crushed chocolate bars, marshmallows, cookie crumbs, sprinkles and more (there are over a dozen). Think about all of the combinations that you could make just with one dozen donuts! No two donuts have to be the same. We know the kids will love coming up with their own special donut sensations and we think it would be fun to encourage them to make up their own donut flavour name like Maverick’s has for their signature donuts.

Maverick’s offers bar-style seating and a few small tables with limited but available seating for you and the family to dine in. Mom and dad can enjoy a cup of coffee to go along with their donut too. If you need to grab and go for at home or the office, they are prepared for that as well and will box up your donut selections whether your order from their ready-to-go signature collection or take the time to create your own.
