Our Favourite Easter App for Kids

One of our favourite holiday traditions—no matter the holiday—is reading a themed story with our child. There’s something extra special about curling up with our favourite little people for a quiet moment, a story, and reveling in some holiday-themed magic.

So we were psyched when we heard that Lindt (a company we automatically associate with Easter) has created a kid-friendly storytelling app just in time for the Easter holiday. The free storybook app, called ‘The Bell That Rang In Easter’, (think: little gold bunnies with little gold bells!) was written by the award-winning Canadian children’s author Ashley Spires and tells the tale of the magical friendship between a small bunny and a little girl named Emma. In an effort to thank Emma for her kindness and friendship, the bunny sets out on an adventure in search of the perfect Easter gift to give his friend. We love that the focus of the story is kindness; it’s all about giving and friendship, core values we’re happy to repeat to our children. (Because you know they never want to hear a story just once!)

The app is also full of charming, painterly visuals that will please both grown-up and little eyes alike. So, a free app (available on both iTunes and Google Play) that tells a quality story and has beautiful graphics? We’re loving it.

But, it gets better.

Every single app download will benefit children across Canada. For every download, Lindt is generously donating $1 (to a maximum donation of $50,000) to the Children’s Aid Foundation, helping fund education, prevention, enrichment, and healing and recovery programs that ensure children and youth across the country can grow, thrive, and lead happy, healthy, productive lives.

Cuddling up to read this story is definitely our new family Easter tradition. We’re adding it to the list, along with unwrapping our gold foil chocolate bunnies for a nibble or two. But what about you? Lindt wants to hear about your family traditions—share using the hashtag #GoldBunnyStory.

PS: Toronto area families—to celebrate the launch of ‘The Bell That Rang In Easter’, Lindt is kicking off a series of events across the country, including a 10-day family event at Square One Shopping Centre from March 16-26. There will be kids’ crafts, lots of chocolate, a photo opp with a certain famous golden bunny, and the storybook app will come to life in a 1,400 square foot pop-up installation. On March 18 at Square One, and on March 17 at the Shops at Don Mills, you’ll even catch the author, Ashley Spires, onsite doing live readings at 10 am, 11 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm, 4 pm and 5 pm. And, if you show the event organizers the app downloaded on your phone, you’ll receive special Easter offers. And by ‘special Easter offers’, we mean chocolate.
