Party Tip: Pre-Scoop Ice Cream

Scooping Vanilla Ice Cream

I really don’t like serving ice cream at a party. It’s messy and, more often than not, one of the kids will complain about getting a smaller-sized scoop than their friend or sibling.

It’s already difficult enough trying to cut even slices of cake topped with the right coloured frosting or decoration requested by each child, but to then try and portion out perfect scoops of ice cream is a hassle I’m prepared to part with. So instead of fussing with my frozen treat, I pre-portion my ice cream ahead of my guests’ arrival, and store it in the freezer until it’s time to be served.

Here’s How to Pre-Scoop Ice Cream:

  • Line a baking sheet with plastic wrap and spoon out single servings of your favourite ice cream onto the pan.
  • Cover loosely with another sheet of plastic wrap or parchment paper, and store in the freezer until you’re ready to serve.

This can be done an hour or a day in advance of your party, and the portions will hold their shape until you are ready to transfer them to the bowls. Done and doneā€”as simple as that!
