Glory Days

Cupcake,
There’€™s no denying we’€™ve had something sweet together. All those birthday parties we shared. You were the total package: beauty, great taste and a solid foundation.

But lately we’€™ve been looking for someone with, well, a little more dough. We’€™ve found a new obsession’€”Glory Hole Doughnuts. It’€™s Toronto’€™s newest gourmet doughnut shop on Queen St. West.

Our relationship started after a quick inhale of the aroma inside this tiny spot, west of Roncesvalles. The space is kitschy and cute’€”and while Glory Hole‘€™s goods may be a glorious thing, seating is at a premium. So plan on bringing your baked goods home or pick them up when en route elsewhere.

Whether for you or a dozen, anyone who takes a bite of these flavours, such as the impossibly fluffy Lemon Meringue, Elvis with Marshmallow or Cookies and Cream (our kids’€™ favourite), will know these doughnuts are decadent. And if doughnuts aren’€™t your thing (we’€™re sad for you), Glory Hole’€™s cheese buns are snapped up as soon as they are out of the oven.

Good to Know: Pre-orders are encouraged for special menu requests and large-order sizes. The shop changes their menu about four times a year and while nut-infused items (Chocolate Pistachio) are on the current menu, owner Ashley Jacot De Boinod says her next round of goodies, likely introduced in February, will be nut free.

Sorry, cupcake. You’€™re a real sweetie. Maybe you can find a nice cake pop to party with somewhere.

In the meantime, check out these other fab 5 Doughnut Spots in Toronto.
