How to Stay Sane During the Hols

You’re close to the finish line and you’re doing a great job, but soon it will all be over and you’re looking at two weeks of entertaining the kids at home. You may not have thought about that yet, but don’t worry, we have.

Once the novelty of hanging around in your pyjamas has worn off, you’ll find this quintessential list of The 14 Best Places to Take the Kids in Vancouver to be your new bible. It’s a round up of all of our favourite picks and places to take the kiddos that we’ve featured over the years. Just for you.

Our three very Savvy Scribes in Vancouver shared their favourite places to go with the kids (and they should know).

Michelle Tice couldn’t pick just one of her favourites because there is too much to love about the Festival of Lights at VanDusen Botanical Garden, the Bright Nights Christmas Train in Stanley Park, Canyon Lights at the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Peak of Christmas on Grouse Mountain. Many of these are open after Christmas too (except Peak of Christmas on Grouse).

Gail Johnson also picked The Lights at Capilano Suspension Bridge. With thousands of lights glittering throughout the rain forest, it’s dazzling. She’s relieved that it takes place when it’s dark out, because she’s afraid of heights and could not look down from the Cliffwalk, a suspended walkway jutting out from a hunk of granite high above the ground, in daylight!

Deanna Wigmore is also amazed every year by the Bright Nights Christmas Train—the lengths (and heights) that the firefighters go to illuminating the Douglas Firs in Stanley Park is truly breathtaking (as are the firefighters). And did we mention proceeds go to the Burn Unit?

Don’t miss the rest of The 14 Best Places to Take the Kids in Vancouver.
