It’s Too Cold to Stay Inside

Sure it’s cold outside, but we’re Canadian, and we know that the best way to warm up is to dress properly and keep moving (not go inside). So we say lace up and take advantage of our west coast weather this winter.

The Lower Mainland Road Race Series kicks into gear in February, with the Steveston Icebreaker 8km. The route is fun, fast, and perfect for little legs that might walk more than they run. Fine by us—fresh air and exercise are a win-win for bedtime.

There are eleven races in the series, so circle a race on your calendar and set a family goal to participate. Your little jogger will be amazed how they can run around the block easier with practice.

More importantly, it’s an introduction to a sport that’s at our fingertips (or should we say our toes?), and is easier on the pocketbook than other winter sports (skiing, we’re talking to you).

Do we hear three cheers for a family running program?

When in doubt, sweat it out, the health benefits won’t notice the chill in the air.
