The Best Park and Picnic Spots in Vancouver

Vancouver Picnic Spots

What’s better than a picnic in the park when you live in Vancouver, home to such a wealth of beautiful outdoor spaces? We’ve narrowed down our favourite parks to bring you three picks for the perfect picnic, so throw down your blanket and chill with the littles.

Queen Elizabeth Park

With award-winning flower gardens, skyline views, and even an indoor biosphere to explore (complete with resident parrots), we love this Queen Elizabeth Park. Grab one of the coveted patches of grass next to the dynamic fountain, a popular wading spot for children.

Provisions: Stock up on locavore delights at nearby Le Marche St. George and bring towels if you plan to play in the fountain.

Locarno Beach Park

At Locarno Beach Park, take out a picnic table, fire up the hibachi, and let the kids beachcomb for special treasures on the great expanse of sand out front. For a special treat, pop by the The Galley at the Jericho Sailing Club for a double scooper.

Provisions: We like to stock up at West Siders’ favourite grocery store Stong’s.

Granville Island Splash Park

A gourmet picnic could not be made easier when you have Granville Island, Vancouver’s famed food market just steps away. Arrive at the park early to get a choice spot on the grassy area next to the splash park and recently renovated playground.

Provisions: Terra Breads, Oyama Sausage Company, Benton Brothers Fine Cheese and LobsterMan.

It’s a beautiful day. Grab a blanket and go!
