Ride On: Cycling Paths in B.C.

Two wheels are better than four when it comes to family fun in Vancouver. The best family bike rides are the ones that take our littlest riders into consideration, meaning the flatter, the better. Here are a few great rides to explore with your budding cyclists. Remember, helmets are mandatory in BC.

Stanley Park
Stanley Park is the first port of call for tourists—and for good reason. The 10-km paved seawall is free of cars and hills. Note that it’s a one-way route, so park near the Vancouver Rowing Club and head counter-clockwise. It gets extremely busy on weekends, so go early, or plan weekday excursions if your riders are wobbly. Bike rentals are available nearby on Denman Street. You can even rent a tandem bike from Spokes if you’re looking for a unique cycling experience.

Jericho Beach
Ride from Jericho Beach to Spanish Banks on a divided gravel trail for the best view of the city. Make a day of it by stopping at a concession stand for lunch, and cool down with a swim in English Bay at the end of the ride. If you’re feeling energetic, head into the trails of the Pacific Spirit Park; there’s an entrance after Spanish Banks before the hill.

There is no shortage of bike rides in Vancouver, so get out there and enjoy the warm weather. For best results, we recommend adding ice cream at the end.

Pedal on, friends. We’ve got more Beautiful Bike Paths in Vancouver for you to explore.
