We All Scream for Gelato! Where to Get the Best Gelato in Vancouver

Gelato is the Italian word for ice cream, but in our dictionary it translates to heaven. Thanks to Vancouver’s vibrant Italian community, you don’t need to cross the Atlantic to experience this delectable treat. Here are some of our favourite gelaterias in the Lower Mainland. (Note that researching this was tough, but someone had to do it.)

Bella Gelateria
The line-up around the block is your first sign that this is the premium spot for gelato in our city. Handmade in small batches, this is seriously worth waiting for, but if your children have ants in their pants, try going on a rainy evening or during the mid-afternoon.

Gelateria Dolce Amore
It makes sense that our Italian hotbed, Commercial Drive, serves up wicked gelato. Dolce Amore sticks to the traditional flavours, and the servers behind the counter are happy to let your little ones sample if they can’t decide which one to choose.

La Casa Gelato
Homemade waffle cones, anyone? This joint also has hundreds of flavours to choose from, as well as a great selection of Italian pastries. People flock here for good reason.

Fun fact: gelato is healthier than ice cream. You’re welcome. Ciao!
