Our Editor's August Round-Up

It’s already the second week of September and the kids have made it back to school. In most parts of the country the weather is reminding us of that—even if we’re still in denial that the summer is over.

In case you’re one of those who is still pretending its August, I thought I would re-cap all of my favourite Savvy features we ran last month. Top of the list are the new Back-to-School Guides we launched. There were just so many cool ideas and products that we came across in our research that we wanted to share them all with you. The feedback was very positive, so we’re glad people are enjoying them. We will continue to bring you some helpful guides in this format in the months to come, but maybe not as many as we have done for this busy time of year.

On the social media side of things (because everyone knows moms are social) we had our very first Facebook party. Never mind the abuse I took at home from my ‘tween age kids, I think all who participated had a great time, won some seriously cool prizes from Raspberry Kids and we at SavvyMom enjoyed learning more from our loyal and engaged fans: “This was the BEST Facebook party I’ve attended and I’m totally not saying that because I just won a fabulous prize…I promise! :)” Kia Robertson.

We’re wrapping up the Mom Entrepreneur of the Year Award this month and will learn who the lucky winner of the title and prize valued at $22,000 is. With over 200 nominees to date, the race is on and the votes are still coming in so be sure to check it out and get your votes in for your favourite mom entrepreneur this year.
