Maybe you were impressed with the glamour of the 2010 Academy Awards this year, or maybe you were impressed with the winners. Maybe not. But there was one winner’s that I’m sure all moms watching were impressed with and that was Sandra Bullock’s for Best Actresss. She thanked “all the moms who take care of the children and the babies no matter where they come from” and then went on to thank her own Mom. It brought a tear to my eye, that’s for sure. Actually, just watching it again now has brought a few more.
Here it is, in case you missed it.

Yes, yes, yes—the answer is yes, we are running the SavvyMom “Mom Entrepreneur of the Year Award” again this year, and thank you to all of those interested parties who have flooded us with inquiries. The 2010 program launches at the end of May and as always, we’ll be welcoming all Canadian mom entrepreneurs to nominate themselves and jump into the running. Watch www.momentrepreneuraward.ca for all the details.
We’ll have some exciting changes this year as well—I can’t share them quite just yet—but check this space for more soon. We salute Canada’s mom entrepreneurs and we look forward to celebrating their success with all of you.

What do a mobile petting zoo, a natural café with a family centre and an online fine home furnishings store all have in common?
Can’t figure it out? They are all amazing businesses run by Canadian mom entrepreneurs, recently nominated for the 2010 SavvyMom Mom Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
We’re almost all the way through this year’s award (generously presented by PayPal), and once again we’re amazed by the variety and number of Canadian mom-run businesses that are out there. And if you read through the profiles, you will be amazed by the inspirational stories of moms’ great ideas for businesses, how they are helping through their extensive charitable initiatives and how they are finding that elusive work-life balance we all hope for.
We’ve got just over two weeks left to go in the contest—I hope you will take a moment to browse the site at www.momentrepreneuraward.com and cast a vote for your favourite mom entrepreneurs.
