Two summers ago, I discovered author Jennifer Weiner and whiled away a cottage weekend reading Best Friends Forever (naturally a tale of two best friends). Then last summer, another cottage weekend was entirely occupied by Fly Away Home, a story of a mother and two daughters who find themselves closer than they ever have been after a series of complicated family problems.
So this summer I was excited to discover that Jennifer’s writing has kept up with my reading (because summer seems to be the only time I can actually get through an entire book) and that she had a new title that addresses surrogacy, egg donorship, the rights of a parent and what it means to be a mother, through a fast-moving story of that brings together the lives of some fascinating characters—a student, a housewife and a socialite.
We’ve got five copies to give away to you, dear readers, so just leave a comment here about your favourite place to read in the summer (the hammock, the dock, the treehouse?) until August 31, 2011, and we will conduct a random draw from all of them.
Congrats to our winners: Karen W., Zoe K., Sheryl M., Tammy C. and Kim B.

My favourite place to read in the summer is anywhere. In the summer I actually have time to read so I take advantage of it.
I love to read outside in the park
Early in the morning, on the dock at the cottage, with a cup of hot coffee….
My most favourite summer reading spot is on the front porch of my cottage, comfy and cool on the 1930’s style bed that has been there lOnger then I’ve been around for! I’ve never come across a Jennifer Weiner book that I haven’t liked, so fingers crossed that I’ll be reading her book on my next trip to the cottage!
While at home in the summer, I love to read at Starbucks while sipping an iced black tea lemonade :). While on vacation, I love to read on the deck of my parents’ timeshare condo, overlooking the golf course in Fairmont Hot Springs! Jennifer Weiner is one of my favorite authors - I’ve read all her books but this one!
I am a little like Jo from Little Women. I have been known to sit in trees and read! My favorite spot would be pretty much anywhere that I can put my feet up, lose all track of time, and travel to whatever world I am about to enter.
My favourite place to read is either in the sanctuary of my backyard with beautiful breezes and a festive display of colour from my flower garden….or the beach which is just a few blocks from my house.
Please enter me I could use some good summer reading
I love to read in many places in the summer. So far my most fav place is on our deck in the backyard. We have a beautiful garden and pond, and its very relaxing to read in the sunny afternoons while my son is sleeping and the pond running:)
Love to read on my back deck under the patio umbrella.
I love to read on our deck by the pool. A large umbrella allows for a perfect setting.
Anywhere the kids aren’t—usually in ten minute I increments. Providing I’ve had enough sleep to have my head in gear to remember to tote my current read with me, I I use opportunities like arriving early for kiddie pick-up, or read a page while the kids ogle over the goods in our neighborhood toy store. A great way to steal ten minutes is to jingle my keys and inform the kids a bit early that it’s time to go—a sure way for them to suddenly remember that they have 5 things they forgot to do.
I love Jennifer Weiner and I love reading! My favourite place to read in the summer is out on our deck with my feet up and a glass of iced tea while the kids play in the sprinkler.
My 2 1/2 year old is going through a monster phase and won’t sleep in his own bed unless someone lays with him. I also have a new born baby. So my favorite place is to be snuggled in his bed with the kids on either side snoring away. I wait until they are both asleep, pull out the book of choice and read away.
Definitley the beach - sitting in the sand along the beautiful Nova Scotia shoreline!
In my living room by the window during a summer rain!
My favorite spot to read is .... my lounge chair on the backyard deck. Once the kids are asleep in their beds, joined with a nice big glass of wine, I read and listen to the sounds of the night.
In the summer time, when I’m at work, I like to grad a salad or sandwich and head outside. I sit on a park bench and enjoy a good read while I taking advantage of the nice weather.
Right now my favourite place to read is anywhere I can! With two little ones underfoot, I read in the strangest places: I’ve even been caught trying to sneak in a few pages while I stir something on the stove. But my best reading is in bed at night after both kids are asleep - less chance of being interrupted!
I still read the same place in summer as I do winter - lying in bed.
