September is all about to back to school, and so it seems apropos that the theme for our photo contest this month is Kids and School. So, head to our SavvyMom Facebook page and upload your favourite photo of your kids either just starting school, heading back for their first day of the year or any other fun school-themed shots.
With our new format, you get to post and display your photos on our SavvyMom Facebook Fan Page. Then you and your family and friends—along with other SavvyMom fans, will have the chance to vote for our winner!
Here’s how to enter:
- If you have a Facebook account, become a SavvyMom Facebook fan. Be sure to click the ‘Like’ option if you are not a fan already.
- If you don’t have a Facebook account, it’s time to open one. Then follow the steps in number 1.
- Post a comment on our wall with your full name, a caption and attach your photo to the comment. Hit submit.
- Photos will automatically be uploaded onto our ‘Photo’ tab where you will see them in the Fan Photos Section.
- Now share your fabulous shot on your own Facebook page and get your friends to vote!
If you’re voting for a fabulous photo:
- Become a SavvyMom Facebook Fan.
- Go to the ‘Photos’ tab and click on the photo of your choice.
- Type SAVVY in the comment section.
- Now share your new fave photo on your own Facebook page and get your friends to vote, too.

And new for this month, the runner-up will be chosen by the SavvyMom HQ team.
The prize for our winner this month is a birthday party starter kit from Green Planet Parties, who just recently re-launched their website with lots of great new locally sourced product ideas. The kit includes 10 pre-packaged loot bags and is valued at over $100, including shipping within Canada. These goodie sacks feature reusable, handmade drawstring bags with special items that have each been chosen for their sustainability and fun factor. Also new for this month, our runner-up will be awarded a small prize as well!
And remember, if your photo is selected as our winner, you will see your creative work of art featured on our SavvyBlog, too!
We will announce our winners at the end of the month on our SavvyBlog and on our SavvyMom Facebook Fan. where the top three choices will be on display in their very own savvy album. If you are the monthly winner, be sure to share your glory with your friends and family!

Our July Photo of the Month Contest theme was Summer Splash, and a lot of very cute photos were posted on our SavvyMom Facebook photo wall of children enjoying summer and getting wet. Thank you all for entering! It was an incredibly close race, with the most contest submissions yet, and we loved all the great photos that you shared with us.
So without further ado, we’re excited to announce that our July winner, with the most SavvyMom Facebook fan votes, is a very cute shot submitted by Sarah Deveau of sweet Jacqueline under the sprinkler.

We also have to acknowledge great photo submissions from Amanda Shaw-Yagoub of her adorable daughter Zahra Christine at a splash park and Stephanie McCutcheon Kalish—love the pic of little Lexi in the wading pool with her cousins. These photo submissions received the second and third highest votes from our SavvyMom Facebook fans.

For the month of August (in the spirit of “Gone Fishin’”), we will be taking a short break from the Photo of the Month Contest while we enjoy some summer splash time with our own kids. Be sure to check back at the beginning of September for the next Photo of the Month Contest details and some exciting new features!
