This is not your regular run-of-the-mill product review/blog post. It’s a thank you note because the new 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe was actually part of our family last weekend—on one of the most memorable family weekends we have had yet.
I won’t give all the credit to the car (the real experience was being together at a family reunion and watching our team win in overtime), but after 16 hours in the Santa Fe, we were intimate, and since the car actually provided the sweet ride that brought us there, I feel a measure of gratitude that I would like to express.
Thank you, Hyundai, for making a car that’s cool enough for my teenage sons to get excited about. They liked the satellite radio (with the bad comedy channels), the huge sunroof that covered almost the entire roof and even though it wasn’t that cold, they were pleased to have seat warmers in the back seat.

My son was more than willing to climb on top of the car to illustrate how big the sunroof was.
They even made use of the sun shades on the windows which allowed them to have a good sleep in the afternoon.

They are so cute when they are asleep.
Thanks for making a car that’s good on gas but doesn’t drive like a car that’s good on gas. My husband was impressed that it didn’t guzzle yet it still had some ‘kick’ to it. He was also relieved that it had enough trunk space to fit all of our luggage, food and shopping bags!

You can see what big helpers I had.

Loved the smart key technology.
I was happy with the luxury features that made life simpler and more personal. Thanks for adding smart key technology which meant I didn’t have to go routing around for my keys every time I went to open the door (usually while laden with bags of something). This feature truly made me smile every time I got into the car. Then, when turning off the engine, the car made a happy noise and the words goodbye came up on the dash—like it really cared.

It talked to me!
What I like most about Hyundai cars is that they have a high safety rating, and they’re practical and accessible. They’re priced for everyone but they’re designed and built like a luxury car.
Finally, thanks to my late father who introduced us to Notre Dame and college football. He instilled a love of the game for our kids to play and for our families to watch. He also gave us a great excuse for a family reunion every fall.
Now for those lasting memories…

Cousins coming together to cheer on the Irish.

Game faces are on!

Did I mention that we invited Vince Vaughn to our family reunion?

A wet but happy fan.

I had a few tips to share with the team mascot pregame.
How clean is your laundry? Apparently it’s not easy to tell unless you have revolutionary technology that can detect residue like sweat and body oils that linger on your clothes. Watch this video on the Sunlight.ca site or the one below to see for yourself. It shows that with UV lighting and a special formula that is sprayed onto the laundry, you can detect all of the smelly body oils and fabric residue that’s left on laundry. In other words, your white towels might look white, but they’re not necessarily clean. Gross, I know.
For the record, and in the spirit of editorial transparency, this is not a sponsored post. After learning about this new product, I was a bit suspicious about this ‘scientific method’, so I took some of the Sunlight Deep Clean home and tested it against my worst laundry nightmare of all time—smelly camp towels. It worked. How do I know it worked? Not from a special spray and UV lighting, but my eyes and nose. Years of experience with mildewed towels told me they were clean to look at, but my nose was the most surprised. For the first year, I only had to wash those towels once to get rid of the mildew smell. I’m told that mildew smell is a result of all the oils and buildup left on towels which doesn’t get deep cleaned (pun intended).
I don’t know if I need to use this detergent on all my fine washables, but for the tough stuff (and I have a lot of that with two pre-teen boys), it will be on my shelf.
Wait for more sponsored info on Sunlight Deep Clean in our newsletters coming soon.
What’s your favourite detergent? I would love to know.
