I am honoured to be a member of the team that reviews each of the nominations that comes in for our SavvyMom Mom Entrepreneur of the Year Award and it’s been a busy week for us since the program launched last week. As is the case every year, I am in awe of the great accomplishments these mom entrepreneurs have achieved, the wide variety of businesses they have begun and their mastery of juggling it all. Somehow they are able to make it work for each of them in their own ways.

Silver Scales’Juggling’ is a common theme across the nominations as we read about the most rewarding and the most challenging thing our nominees face with being a mom entrepreneur. Blessing/curse, blessing/curse…oh, the joys of having it all. I don’t like to think of it as balance myself—balance implies something perfect, something controlled—but rather as a richness, the richness of our mom lives, more like a very rich French dish that the chef has added a little of this, a little of that, and mixed it all up to make something wonderful, a whole greater than the sum of its parts, where each bite is a discovery of something new. And speaking of discovery, across the board, our mom nominees speak of the sense of satisfaction they have felt when developing the new confidence, skills and relationships that being a mom entrepreneur has brought them. I hope you will have a chance to visit our nominee gallery and read some of these stories for yourself.

If you’re the winner, you’ll be featured as the Chief Correspondent on the Mabel’s blog and enjoy a great trip to the Windy City!
