Tuna and Apple Stuffed Pitas

Makes 4 servings

You'll Need
  • 1 (170g) can of flaked tuna (packed in water), drained
  • 1 small MacIntosh apple, cored and chopped
  • 1 celery stalk, chopped finely
  • 2 Tbsp of mayonnaise
  • Juice of half of a lemon
  • 2 small pitas, halved
Prep and Cook
  • In a small mixing bowl, stir together tuna, apple, celery, mayonnaise and lemon.
  • Spoon tuna salad into pita halves and serve with a side of cheese cubes, halved grapes or your toddler’s favourite cooked or raw vegetable.

Good to know: Make chicken and apple salad by substituting canned or cooked chicken for tuna. Add a dash of curry or cinnamon to spice it up.

Mmmmmm!!!! I had my 20 month old stand on a step-stool and watch me chop the celery and apple in a food processor. When it came time to mix everything together he couldn’t wait and wanted some. We did a quick taste test and it was delish!!!! With our warmed pitas even better! I have to admit that I detest tuna salads and this was amazing!!!!!! Thank you sooooo much! P.S. I used 1/2 of a small pita for myself and 2 mini pitas for him, just slicing a small opening to fill his! Mmm!
