Label the Kids!

Let’s be clear from the get-go: I have six kids and I am the co-founder of Mabel’s Labels Inc. Clearly, labelling is a huge part of my life and essential for keeping me organized. In fact, the thought of not being organized makes me shudder.

Recently, I had a chat with our Customer Service guru, Martha at Mabel’s HQ to get her frontline opinions about some of the creative ways our customers stay organized with labels. All I can say is…WOW, I am inspired! Indeed, it appears we are providing labels for some pretty clever mamas!

The Snow Day
Moms are finding wicker baskets great for all the kids’ hats, scarves and mittens. Give each kid a basket, attach a personalized tag like our Bag Tag to the basket handle and call it home for all their snow paraphernalia.

Off the Hook
Pop a label like one of our Sticky Labels above each child’s coat hook. Each coat should then be able to find its way back to where it belongs. No excuses—labels don’t lie.

The Spice Girls
Try our custom Canister/Spice Labels for your spice jars and kitchen canisters to keep tabs on everything. Small labels like this are so versatile you can also personalize them for video games, cosmetics, craft paints and supplies, DVDs, book plates, etc.

The “I’m Addicted to Rubbermaid Totes” Mama
For the woman who locks it all away in handy plastic totes, but can only find the Christmas tree garland when she needs Easter Eggs—label the totes after each holiday with what is inside (Custom Bin Labels are your answer and at the end of the year you’ll be back on track with all the holiday paraphernalia!

The “If I Lend You this Book, Will I Get It Back?” Dilemma
Label those books with your name and phone number to ensure they make it back to your bookshelf.

The Litterless Lunch
Line ‘em up and start slinging sandwiches. Put small labels on the food containers, the thermos, cutlery, etc. These little labels will ensure all your lunch bag components make it home, while also guaranteeing the right lunch finds a home in the right stomach.

The Monster Under the Desk
If your computer and electronic cords are looking more like an angry octopus, get some cord control by labelling these as well. No more guessing whether you’ve unplugged the phone or the PVR.

The Costco Creeper
Buy in bulk? Can’t lift your 40lb tub of shampoo or family-sized barrel of pickles. Downsize to smaller containers and label!

I’m obsessed with labelling my children’s shoes and boots.  There are not too many different styles for boys footwear.  We frequently go places and find all those boys with the same boots sitting at the door.  Mabel Labels in my kids footwear is a must.  My youngest son can’t read but he knows the red fire truck sticker is his.

We use Mabel’s labels to keep track of all of my 7 year olds baseball equipment on the field. He has a great habit of coming in and just dropping his glove or hat. Since everyone’s look the same I wonder if the one we have started out as his!

What a savvy labeling post! Nice job, Julie.

I used labels for my freezer items. When I buy meat in bulk, I label the Ziploc bags. I also use it for my chili and spaghetti sauce. I put what it is and the date. I’ve mixed up spaghetti sauce and chili more than once so it does save on confusion later and you know how old it is.

Love these ideas!  Keep them coming please!  I have found the organizing bug, must be the new year upon us, and I will be ordering some of your bin labels to help me along… thanks for the great tips.

I use labels on my kids backpacks, lunch boxes, and even their jackets.

Loving Mabels Labels!  We use them all the time!
Return address Labels, Cards, and stickies.
Everyone has Thermos waterbottles now that the “others” are full of BPA…so we have our labels on them and the kids can all tell which is which- less germs!
    Labels are yummy

We label our movies and video games with Mabel’s Labels. This way whenever something we own gets lent out, we know that it will get returned to us.

My 3 year old daughter just starting skating lessons.  The teachers put a huge piece of masking tape on the front of her helmet with her name using a marker!  Forget about that!  Once I get my Mabel’s Label’s in the mail, I will replace it with a beautiful Mabel Label!!!

I gave a pack of tag mates to my 9 year old son.  They are more discreet for him, but he is free to label all his favorite things and the collectables that he shares with his friends.

Labelling all of my daughter’s clothes is a no-brainer, but I’ve found that it’s been helpful to label whatever she brings to school for show and tell. It’s much easier to settle a dispute about “whose teddy bear is that?” when her name is adhered to said bear’s tag. Thank goodness for Taggies!

I have used Mabels labels on our Winter gear; sleds, saucers, snow brick makers, shovels, etc.  It’s a great way to keep tabs on our belongings especially when the kids forget to bring them home.  Everyone knows who they belong to.

Love, love Mabel Labels.  I use them on all my kids stuff, including soccer balls, beach toys, cups, toothbrushes, etc.

I use the skinny-mini labels on my kid’s soothers!

Our Build-a-Bear went to the Teddy Bear Picnic at Nursery School today complete with tagmates on her shoes, clothes, underbears and even on her tag.  Gotta love those tiny labels!

My daughter loves “Thomas and Friends” wooden trains…those things aren’t cheap, so I don’t want her losing them!! I’ve found that Tag Mates fit perfectly on the underside of the trains - and she knows which ones belong to her!

I just recently bought a set of skinny labels to give to my girlfriend as a thank you gift.  She has tonnes of scrapbooking tools and is always generous enough to share them at workshops.  Now, we can make sure that her tools always make it back home with her.

I use the Tag Mate for my suitcase. Give it that extra little something when traveling :)

Since a lot of strollers look the same when parked at daycare (or the park, etc.), I’ve put a Bag Tag on ours. Now we always know which one belongs to us!!
