To CookeryDoo—around the block!

Well, it’s around the block if you live in the west end of the city, but even if you don’t, it’s well worth the drive to CookeryDoo to get the kids cooking.

And we mean really cooking. CookeryDoo is a brand new concept in children’s cooking and crafting developed by mom-of-two-small boys, Stephanie Phillips, to expose those budding gourmets and little chefs of yours to the wonders of the kitchen. 

The bright, clean nut-free space is all set up for little chefs—even the aprons and rolling pins come in junior sizes—to get some hands-on (really hands-on, like right into the bowl of dough as we did with our little two-year-old SavvyScout) experience with cooking.

The extensive course selection includes programs for boys and girls of all ages. You can learn your letters as well as how to cook in the Alphabet Soup class, and your colours in the Food Colouring class. For older kids, the hands-down savvy fave is the Supper Club class where, over the course of the session, the kids learn to make the elements of an entire dinner (main course, dessert etc.) as well as manners and how to set the table, and then they invite their parents for dinner at the end to show off their new Iron Chef talents.

A great place for a kid’s birthday party (we like the special 1st birthday baby food party), CookeryDoo also offers ‘child-inspired’ catering for the perfect kids’ menu for your next occasion so you can say good-bye to the chicken nuggets and hello to the much more fun and healthy veggie centipedes, potato mice and bagel buddies among other things. (There are also craft classes and health and nutrition programs for adults too!)

Can’t make it out to Ronce Village? (Although you really should—it’s definitely a hot spot.) CookeryDoo even offers a monthly home delivery cooking club. Your little chef will receive a featured recipe, all the non-perishable ingredients, instructions, and a reusable cooking gift each month, and together you can learn about cooking, kitchen safety, nutrition and, of course, yummy food. Makes a great gift too.
