New Pottery Painting Studio Opens in #YYC

We love crafting with our kids, but sometimes those projects on Pinterest are a tad too ambitious. A huge boon to creativity is switching it up, which is why we’re thrilled Color Me Mine has opened a new studio uptown, just off 17 Ave.

This is the place for pottery painting for ages four and older, but really, all ages are welcome. (Putting a stamp of baby's hand or feet on a plate has become quite popular.) From mugs to cutesy animals to piggy banks, there are hundreds of pieces to choose from. Simply nab your piece of pottery, pick your colours and get painting. And yes, friendly staff are at the ready to help if you need a little guidance.

The paint is mom approved: a non-toxic, lead-free pottery glaze that washes easily off skin and clothing. It’s also food safe and the painted pieces can be put in the dishwasher and microwave.

Not into ceramics? Work those fine motor skills with glass fusion. It’s as easy as tinkering with glass pebbles to make plates, bowls and spectacular works of art. We’re pretty stoked about their canvas painting, too. Paint what you like on canvas anytime or opt for a Paint Night experience with an instructor. The added bonus is that kiddies can join the party or stick to pottery. In the future look for Kids Night Out on Fridays evenings, where the littles create over dinner and a movie without their caregivers.

There are several different packages for families to choose from, and one that includes food. There’s a pizza option, or treats from Good Earth Coffeehouse (attached and right next door) can be brought in...and did we mention this coffee shop is licensed? This new Color Me Mine studio has it all down to a fine art.

With its convenient central location, this studio is an ideal spot for a mom’s night out, baby or bridal shower and of course, kiddie birthday parties. (PS: See all our fave Calgary birthday party spots here.)
