Calgary West Country Market
For a new Saturday activity with the kids, why not kill two birds with one stone. We found a place where you can pick up great organic food while your kids enjoy free entertainment and a taste of the past.
The Calgary West Country Market first opened in late April, and is steadily growing. With over 200 vendors, the market is located in the Wild Wild West Event Centre right by Calaway Park on Saturdays from 8:30 am to 1 pm, and offers a little something for everyone in the family.
You’ll be greeted by an old cowboy and his horse at this indoor/outdoor fort-style venue. Besides the delicious samples, we love the face painting (it’s artistry beyond the norm), live storytelling, musical acts and other sweet treats (read: homemade fudge) for the kids.
Unlike other markets, the grassy outdoor portion is surrounded by buildings, making it easier to keep the kids within eyesight as you make your way around.
