Some activities work better in theory than in practice.
So while we love the idea of an outdoor summer poolside birthday party, we also like to avoid risking bad weather and go for the sure thing by hitting an indoor beach. And if you’d rather not deal with 200 uninvited party guests at a city pool, we suggest going private so you can have the place all to yourself.
The Waves Calgary Water Park is located at the Best Western Port O’ Call hotel by the airport. It offers two big water slides, a wading pool with a baby slide and a spray shower for the preschool crowd. Best of all, this water park is always 25 degrees and sunny.
While the pool is technically open to hotel guests at all times, there are normally so few people on deck that you’ll feel as if you booked the facility for your child’s very own private party. The pool area is clean, new and well maintained.
Parties cost $21.95 per person and include food (pizza or hot dogs and more), admission to the pool, a party room and a change room (hotel room) for the duration of the party. You’ll need to bring your suits, goggles and cake (or you can arrange to have that provided as well). Invite a minimum of 10 guests and a maximum of 80.
Good to Know: You are responsible to lifeguard the party, so depending on the age of the children, we recommend inviting parents along for the ride down the slides. They’ll appreciate the summer getaway as much as the kids.
And you’ll appreciate these other 9 Birthday Party Ideas in Calgary.
