Add some theatrics to your kids' lives. Find out more.

Living in Calgary has many advantages, including access to a wide range of big theatre productions with low ticket prices for kids and families.

Loose Moose Theatre Company is famous for improv and kids’ productions based on classic children’s tales. Sleeping Beauty is on stage now through December 4, and Aladdin and His Magic Lamp debuts November 12. Tickets are $12 and shows run Saturdays and Sundays at 1 pm at the Crossroads Market.

Storybook Theatre is another local fave, and features Anne of Green Gables (at the Pumphouse Theatre) in evening and matinee performances November 4 to 19. Bumbles’ Big Christmas Adventure (at the Community Arts Centre in the Easterbrook Theatre) is this fall’s Cookie Cabaret for ages three to six, and runs November 25 to December 18. Storybook Theatre tickets start at $14 and up.

Stage West for Kids launches the holiday season with a production of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. Performances include a buffet meal, cost $32 for adults and $26 for kids and begin at 11 am on Saturdays. Many performances are sold out, so get your tickets now.

The Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra presents Winter Solstice, A Rocky Mountain Fairy Tale (featuring the beauty and antics of mountain fairies) November 13 at 3 pm (instrument petting zoo at 2 pm). This symphonic production takes place at the Jack Singer Concert Hall and tickets cost $28.

Theatre is great—your kids can appreciate art without having to bring it home and hang it on the wall. Tested by Heather J., Calgary
