Best Foot Forward

Manicures and Pedicures on a Budget
Best Foot Forward

It’s always important to put your best foot (or hand) forward and there’s nothing like a quality spa treatment to give you the confidence to put it all out there.

Luckily, you can still afford such a luxury in this new economy because we’ve found a place where a quality manicure costs only $15. Somehow it immediately seems like less of a luxury and more of a must-do.

Canadian Hippy Nails comes highly recommended by women city-wide. Located in Marda Loop, they specialize in everything hands and feet. Service is friendly at this family-run shop and you’ll be in and out in no time (less than an hour for a mani/pedi combo). Walk-ins are normally accommodated but you can book ahead too. Bring your book club read as there is no chit-chat required (note: trashy mags available on site). The bottom line: your new baby-soft hands and feet are so worth it at $45 for both treatments. Canadian Hippy Nails is open from 10 am to 7 pm.

If you live in the north, Flashy Nails in Airdrie is another nail bed hot spot and walk-ins are welcome. Your man/pedi run a mere $40 with a stand alone pedicure costing you $30. Flashy Nails is also open 10 am to 7 pm weekdays, and until 6 pm on Saturday.

We’d like to stress that to indulge in this budget beauty basic you first must trade thoughts of serene music, aromatherapy and fluffy terry robes for bright lights, soap operas and the scent of sculptured nails. But you still get to keep the sea salt scrub, massage chair and pretty polish that will last right through Spring Break.

The price of beauty just got more affordable. Slough off that winter skin with a cheap and cheerful spa treatment that not only fits your lunch hour but the budget spreadsheet as well—just in time to pull out those sandals for spring.
