How could one tiny person need so much stuff? Or two for that matter….
When you’re heading out on holiday this summer, you’ll need a play pen, booster seat, stroller, car seat and enough toys to keep Jack and Jill occupied—all the time. Oh, and remember the baby monitor and carrier too. Of course bottles, clothing and diapers are required as well. And that’s just for the baby. Don’t get us started on the toddler requirements. To add to our stress, many airlines will only allow one bag per person now. (You’d think nobody wants children on an airplane.)
Traveling with two toddlers (and a third on the way) is what inspired savvy mom, Carolyn Chin to look for a better solution than hoofing it through the airport with a towering luggage cart. The result is Baby on the Move, a Calgary based equipment rental service.
Designed with the mom-traveler in mind, Baby on the Move supplies everything from the rugged Chariot stroller for $75 per week to the First Years® All Clear Swing Gate for $30 per week. Toys, DVD players and highchairs are also available with prices ranging from $15 for a potty to $80 for a full sized crib. Packages are available at request.
Chin says the majority of her clients are either US or international travelers visiting the Rockies or they are locals hosting US or international travelers. Either way, Baby on the Move offers simplicity and peace of mind with two convenient drop-off and pick-up points including the airport. Baby on the Move also delivers items anywhere in Calgary and area including Banff for an additional $25.
Items are scrupulously inspected before and after renting. All items are guaranteed to be spotlessly clean and in perfect working condition. If renting an arsenal of baby equipment seems pricey, so does paying for additional baggage.
Reservations can be made online or over the phone and Chin recommends reserving well in advance as summer is the second busiest time of year (after Christmas). Service is polite and professional and reservations can be cancelled up to 48 hours in advance.
If you’re traveling away from Calgary, Chin can direct you to reputable rental companies in other cities. Baby on the Move’s website links to a worldwide listing of companies that rent baby and child equipment as well. Keep in mind different companies may have different standards and a little leg work in advance will pay off on holiday.
Try traveling light this summer, even with baby in tow. Your holiday will be that much more relaxing for you. And isn’t that what holidays are all about?
