Q. Describe your mom style in three words or less.

A. ‘Fun, outgoing and creative’ or ‘hardworking, disciplined and professional’ or maybe even ‘crafty, cuddly and laissez faire’.

Luckily, your mom style isn’t right or wrong, good or bad. Regardless of your style, there is a mom’s group out there for you.

And now there’s a new group in town. Momcafé officially launches its Calgary speaker series this November 7 at Earls in Westhills. If that sounds like a grown-up location for a mom’s group (particularly one that meets at 9:30 am), you are right.

Dig out your flattering non-mommy attire, your friendliest handshake and even your children (there’s childcare provided) to participate in this professional mom circle. Formatted with a few speakers addressing a topic of interest followed by Q&A and networking, momcafé’s meetings are designed to help you find your inner-adult.

The inaugural meeting features creator of The Mompreneur™ Magazine, Kathryn Bechthold and Senior Manager of Community Investment for TELUS, Christi Cruz. Together they will discuss finding balance. The event costs $32 for non-members or $26.25 for members plus $10 (for the first child, $5 each additional) for childcare (register online).

Membership costs $75 and gives you a permanent discount on future events as well as a variety of other perks well-suited to the mom entrepreneur, including marketing and increased networking opportunities. No future events have been scheduled in Calgary yet as momcafé is still in the building stages but expect momcafé to be up and running by early 2009.

Networking events usually take place on Friday mornings at roving locations. Vancouver-based founders Jill Earthy and Hilary Woller recognize that Friday mornings are often free from work, activities and commitments; perfect timing to make friends, network connections and increase support systems. They’ve been running momcafé gatherings on the coast for over a year now and they’re experts in bringing together moms for chat and connectivity.

Oh, and did we mention there’s coffee (the common denominator of all mom’s groups)?
