Oh, the weather outside is frightful…
Too early for holiday carols? Maybe. Then again, the most frightful thing about Halloween is the weather and that’s just around the corner.
So if the nip in the air is getting the best of you, grab a latte and head for an indoor playground.
There are many places to play that don’t include inclement weather. Two of our faves are Coffee and Scream and Sip & Safari Cafe.
Coffee and Scream is the largest of our chosen trio. Located in the NW community of Cambrian Heights, Coffee and Scream (get it…cream, scream) houses an indoor playground capable of handling kids up to age six and separate coffee shop capable of handling even the most exhausted mom. Look for the freeway complete with cars, push toys and ride-ems surrounding an island of climbers and toys. Dress in layers. Coffee and Scream has huge windows that let in the light and the cold air in winter. Single entry costs $5.
Sip & Safari Café is a busy place. With colorful murals floor to ceiling and a myriad of toys, Sip & Safari is a toddler’s delight. There are tables lining the walls in which kid friendly food is served along with grown-up bevies. The play area is clean, clean, clean. Admission is $4.25 before 2 pm and only $2.50 after 2. Sip & Safari Café asks that you keep visits under 2 hours and really, who would argue with that. Two hours is long enough to catch up with other moms, wear out Junior and develop a headache!
Coffee and Screams and Sip & Safari Café have a few things in common including Sunday afternoon birthday parties (all day at Sip & Safari Café). Call ahead before planning a Sunday visit or to arrange your child’s party. They also ask that you refrain from bringing snacks—they have a wide selection on hand.
So no need to fret when the weather turns. You should be able to find a screaming indoor safari/java house somewhere near you now. Earplugs not included.
