Rhett Butler: “Did you ever think of marrying just for fun?”
Scarlett: “Marriage, fun? Fiddle-dee-dee. Fun for men you mean.”
This fascinating exchange from the Pulitzer Prize winning novel Gone with the Wind, implies that only men have fun in marriages. We’re not sure about that—but we do know that if you haven’t read this steamy novel, you should. Not only is it one of the most romantic stories ever written, there are enough juicy bits to help your marriage sizzle (hint: read it in bed).
Speaking of sizzle…we think Dr. Trina Read might have agreed with Scarlett when she wrote Till Sex Do Us Part: Make Your Married Sex Irresistible. In this book, she takes a fresh look at what constitutes good s*x for married women and offers analysis and ideas about how to reignite your own flame (preferably with your partner, of course). Now that’s what we call steamy—hello Valentine.
A native of Calgary, Dr. Read has a Doctorate of Human S*xuality, and doles out s*x advice in the media on a regular basis. She runs a Calgary s*x coaching practice, she hosts seminars for local women and she is a savvy mom to a 17 month old son. Her website titled ‘Best S*x Tips Ever’ enjoys a very high Google ranking (go figure) and hosts podcasts with pointers you might be inclined to view at home rather than in the office.
So let’s get serious about what Dr. Trina Read does for couples. She is a coach, not a therapist. Coaches help couples who love each other find the intimacy they once had. It’s far from seedy - she helps marriages stay on track. Dr. Read takes the time to get to know you and your partner both together and separately through an evaluation process. From there, the average couple requires approximately five sessions to get back on track. If this sounds intimidating, keep in mind that Dr. Read’s goal is primarily to return the sensuality and erotic side of s*x to your relationship so that you look forward to getting it on.
Certainly, s*x coaching is not for everyone. Dr. Read frequently refers couples for counseling to work out underlying issues that could be affecting their s*x lives.
So for your beloved this year, perhaps a quick skim through the pages of Dr. Trina Read’s book will do for a gift. And if you really want to get him excited, send him a link to her website. The name alone will get him home early.
