Water is in us, around us, beneath us and above us. We need it to survive. And frankly, we want to look savvy drinking it, particularly while we’re on the go. While the convenience of no-spill, no-break plastic water bottles is hard to resist, disposable bottles are an environmental disaster and many reusable plastic bottles are a health issue, thanks to Bisphenol A.
The next generation of metal water bottles is taking over with stainless steel bottles offering reusable, unbreakable, funky designs guaranteed not to leach harmful chemicals into your drink.
Sitting on the cutting edge of water bottle designs is the Otter Bottle (water rhymes with otter, otters live in nature…you understand). Pioneered by Calgarian mom entrepreneur and mom of two preschoolers, Shannon Andrukow, Otter Bottles recently made their debut at home and across the country.
Constructed of durable single walled 18/8 stainless steel and adorned with graphic designs and contemporary colors, Otter Bottles are the Canadian answer to BPA free drinking water. Unlike aluminum SIGG bottles, there is no need to line a stainless steel bottle with resin to prevent leaching. Stainless is safe as is.
Otter Bottles come in two sizes (500ml and 750ml) and six colors with a one litre version and four additional design options due in stores next month. Bottles come with a plastic sport top as well as a twist top and carabineer.
The bottles retail between $16.99 and $18.99 and are available at retailers city wide listed on the Otter Bottle site. For the online shopper, the 500 ml version is available at Banff retailer, Monod Sports.
‘Tis the season to stay hydrated. So catch the next wave of water accessories.
