Gift-o-matic

Find a range of fab baby shower gifts on this resourceful 'robotic' site
Out of This World Shopping Destination

Shopping for a new arrival or the ultimate baby shower gift can be a little alienating, to say the least.

Whether you feel all spacey walking into a baby store with no clue about what to look for, or you’re on a different planet because your babies were born light years ago when Winnie the Pooh borders were considered high design, you’ll like our new robotic buddy, Babybot.

Calgary-based Babybot.com is a new, online store offering over 1000 beautiful baby products—everything from gifts to clothes, toys to furniture—all carefully selected for their high design and functionality. So let Babybot take you to his leader, because this is not your run-of-the-mill online experience.

Michael Tran and Renee Bender, two creative directors with an extensive background in creating online experiences for other brands, decided to take matters into their own hands and develop a higher life form of baby store when they couldn’t find what they wanted for their own families here in Canada.

A few of the gorgeous things that caught our eye were the Transport Ceramic Mug and Bowl gift set ($35), the Hilo Chair, which keeps toddlers well-seated from six months to six years with its convertible design, the KLT Works plush mobiles and stuffies ($45) and the DucDuc Alex Crib for its originality and wide range of colours ($1,250).

‘When in doubt, automate’ is always a good mantra for busy moms, so the store also offers a special gift selector where Babybot will suggest perfect ideas for new babies, first birthdays and beyond.

But our favourite distraction (really, it’s better than Tetris) on the site is the Shop by Colour feature. Choose the gift-recipient’s favourite colour or the desired nursery accent colour, and the site will show you everything available in that hue. (And stay tuned because shop-by-theme is coming soon, as are room design and shopping comparison tools.)

The store offers over 100 brands, some of which are exclusive to Babybot (such as Mod Mom—you know you want one of these stunning toy boxes). And the customer service— they take it to a whole other level.

And to make things even more out-of-this-world, Babybot’s offering free shipping across Canada as part of their launch promotion.

And that’s not science fiction.
