The Mom Stash II

Summer Surprise Stash

We know you savvy moms are all over picking up birthday presents when they are on sale, you are fully stocked with wrapping paper and you have mastered the seasonal hostess gift stash.

Now it’s time to graduate to another stash that we have come to find indispensable over the years—the ‘Summer Surprise Stash’. So keep these things safely in your treasure box, and you’re all ready.

White T-Shirts
T-shirt painting, tie dying, it’s all the rage at camps. (Mom, they let us muck up our clothes!) The last-minute note home requesting a plain white t-shirt for the next day—not so fun. So stock up on a few on-sale white t-shirts now and avoid a late summer night emergency run to the mall when you should be at home enjoying a glass of wine on the deck.

Copies of Vaccination Records and Health Cards
When it comes to schools and camps, these documents are as important as your passport was to you when you were backpacking around Europe (Sigh. Pause. OK. Enough reminiscing.) Avoid the eye-strain of trying to transcribe all those checkmarks from the standard vaccination record onto your camp/school form. Make a bunch of copies of your children’s vaccination records and health cards so you can just pop them in the envelope.

Recent Photos of Your Family
The most common first show-and-tell item for kids? The cherished family photo (often without photographer-mom in the shot). So don’t settle for having to tape yourself to the picture of your family on the beach. Get some family photos taken now and keep a few copies for your stash. (And btw, make sure you look half decent in the pic—you know it stays on the wall ALL year long, even on parent-teacher night.)

Recent Photos of Your Child
Finally, while you are in photo-mode, be sure to take updated shots of all your kids. Many schools ask for recent pictures of your child (which you’ll need on day one, not after Thanksgiving) to mark their cubby so they can recognize it.

Angelina, Gwyneth. Apparently, being a mom is all glam these days, but unless you have your own P.A., this stash is sure to be a treasure.
