No More Monsters
If ‘one more story puh-leeeeeeease’ is the reason bedtime is being delayed, and you’re running out of steam (aren’t we all?), Little Stars Bedtime Cards offer a lovely, one-on-one bedtime ritual that comforts parents and children alike. Designed by mom entrepreneurs Shannon Mcquillan and Linda Komori, each card in the set of 28 ($14.95) includes a picture of one of the cuddly Little Stars characters and discussion points you can use to help your child explore his own feelings with themes like ‘I am brave’ or ‘I have lots of love in me’ (don’t worry, there’s a Parent Guide too). The cards are designed for children aged three to six.
Before bedtime, you tuck a card under your child’s pillow and let them ‘discover’ it. Kids love the fact that there might be something special in bed, and the promise of some undivided attention from mom or dad gives them an incentive to climb willingly to get into bed—repeat: willingly get into bed. Using the cards helps you send your child to bed feeling loved and secure and brings a special time back to bedtime.
So now that bedtime’s a breeze, just make sure you use some of that new found time to make a dent in your own sleep deficit.
