Q: What’s sweet, white, decorated to perfection, delivered to your door and melts in your mouth?
A: One of Tracey Blasioli’s designer cookies.
Tracey owns and runs Crumbs Cookie, an Ottawa South company specializing in gourmet, made-to-order sugar cookies for all sizes and types of events—from baby showers to business functions and everything in between. These elegant cookies will take a big chunk of the work out of planning your next big party. Have a box delivered as a get-well gift, serve them at a special dinner party, or send them home with guests as party favors.
There is seemingly no end to the variety of shapes and themes available for the cookies, and no way to stump Tracey: if she doesn’t have cookie cutters for the design you have in mind, she creates them (for an extra fee, and with a minimum order of 20 cookies).
For example, celebrate summer at your next get-together by serving Crumbs’ cookies shaped and decorated as sand castles, bathing suits, sunglasses, tropical drinks and ice cream cones. Or order a few dozen for a baby shower, with yellow rubber duckies, rattles and onesies. Other theme ideas include animals, cars, sea creatures, valentines and flowers, to name just a few.
The cookies are so fresh they nearly dissolve in your mouth. Ingredients include flour, butter, sugar, salt, baking soda, free range eggs, pure vanilla extract, meringue powder and food colourings.
Quotes are available—just email your design idea (or name the cookie you saw on the Crumbs Cookie website) and specify quantity, colours, size, date required and whether or not you need gift wrapping. Allow seven days for delivery.
These cookies are works of art so presentation is important. If you like, cookies can be wrapped individually as favors for an extra 75 cents each. They’re given a tiny bed of crinkle paper, encased in a cellophane sleeve and tied with coordinating ribbon. If you’re not giving them away individually and you want to do the environment a favour instead, you can give the wrapping a pass. In that case, your cookies will arrive in a pastry box lined with tissue paper and coordinating ribbon.
These cookies do not come cheap, as you might imagine (consider the creativity and attention to detail involved in each hand-made cookie). They range from $3 to $4.50 each depending on size, quantity, gift wrapping and design. Delivery costs $10 on weekdays or $12 on weekends in the Ottawa area, and $12 to $17 in rural Ottawa areas. On very large orders, delivery may be discounted.
Good to Know: Logos, text and photos can also be iced onto cookies if you are planning an office party or promotional event.
One last word of advice: Have a snack before you check out the Crumbs Cookie website. One look at the possibilities will have you heading to the kitchen for a high-calorie sugar fix!
