Ottawa: Top Five Under $25

Holiday Gifts Under $25
Candy Cane Hot Chocolate Mix

It’s that time of year again. We bring you our Top Five Under $25—the list that promises to help you remember all those who might not be at the top of your list but are certainly no less important.

This year, you’ll be sure not to forget:

Great Aunt Mildred
A scrumptious treat from “the pie lady” of Old Ottawa South is just the thing. From her home on Aylmer Ave., Kerry Duffy runs Life of Pie, an extensive catering service specializing in pies, tarts and a host of other holiday specialties. At $10 a pie, you might have to take one home for yourself (just to test it out, of course). Tie it up with a ribbon and you’re all set.

The Teacher or Gymnastics/Music/Art Instructor
Impress the teach with a bit of history. Go to The World of Maps on Wellington Village, where you can find a 22” x 28” poster in sepia tones of Ottawa as it looked in 1893. Entitled “Bird’s Eye Ottawa, 1893”, it’s a steal at $18.50. While you are there, you might like the “map wrapping paper” available for $5.95 a sheet. There are dozens of other original maps and posters, including some for children.

The Babysitter
What is more trendy for a teenager than an eco-smart gift? Check out the wide array of SIGG reusable water bottles available at room6, one of our new fave online shopping destinations. For $24, it’s tough to leave them in the store.

Your Long Lost Brother-In-Law or the Food-Challenged Couple in the Family
Give them something that will help get dinner on the table the way they like it with the Take-Out Menu Organizer ($24.99). It keeps that wide variety of menus nice and neat and all their favourite meals can be made accessible without soy sauce splattered all over them.

The Family Hostess Gift
Adults and kids both love the Limited Edition Candy Cane Hot Chocolate ($9.95) from Second Cup. It looks festive and tastes great. We mean really great. Pick up us as many as you can—you’ll want to have some left over for yourself.

The Girlfriend You Agreed Not to Exchange With (That’s Why We Snuck It In)
She can look stylish and practical while the beloved ipod and/or cell phone is being protected with a Golla Mobile accessory bag. They also make a great stocking stuffer for anyone on your list. ($19.99) Available at Future Shop and Best Buy.
