Welcome to the show. Today we’ve got two deliciously sweet new finds to share.
Urban Baking Co. is a new local boutique bakery that caters to those of us who love to give (and receive) sophisticated and artistic morsels of baked goodness. Wendy Raoux—a busy mom herself—has just released her winter catalogue. We’ve tested (and tasted), and we’re here to say that her treats are a feast for our tummies as much as they are for our eyes. We love her hand-decorated snowflake ‘tree’ centerpieces, a unique (and edible!) departure from traditional flower arrangements. They’d be perfect for special holiday dinners and family get-togethers.
If you want to see them in person, large and small snowflake trees will be on display at various craft fairs around Ottawa in November. Don’t snooze on this one. For the tree centerpieces, Wendy needs three to four days lead time (depending on the backlog) to bake ‘n’ make.
In other sweet news, families in Kanata North finally have their own kid-friendly coffee shop! No more getting the stink eye for bumping into someone’s chair with your stroller.
Sippy Cup Café has only been open for over a week and it’s already jumping. Tables seat 16 to 20 people out front, but the big draw here is the large playroom in the back. It’s perfect for amusing squirrely children (especially now that it’s starting to get chilly outside) and it’s a fabulous place to meet friends for a fair-trade latte and a playdate. Free WiFi means you’re always connected—whether to work or home—and there are all kinds of caf and non-caffeinated beverages, homey soups and sandwiches to be had. You will definitely want to pick up something to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Saturdays have been proclaimed DAD days at the Sippy Cup Café. So forward this email to daddy and ask him to take the little miss or mister out while you catch a few extra winks.
Now that’s what we call news you can use.
