Tootsie TLC

Best Pedicures in Ottawa
Foot being massaged

Moms truly appreciate the perfection of baby soft skin when they feast their eyes on those little baby piggies…and then they look at their own. One is a miracle and the other a thick-skinned, calloused and tired foot in need of some special treatment.

We have two good reasons to treat yourself to a pedicure this month. The first is that open-toe season is here, and with your tootsies on full display, you’ll want them to be worthy. The second is that a pedicure is a great excuse to take an hour out of your busy life and relax while someone pampers you. The little break, and the results it yields, will be good for both your physical health and emotional equilibrium.

We did a little research (it was tough but someone had to do it) and came up with five of our top picks for toes in the big O.

For Glebers, we like Third Avenue Spa. Escape by yourself or reserve more big comfy chairs for friends at the same time. We like the private room with just two chairs—so you can treat a friend and bring in your own bubbly. Makes a great Father’s Day gift if your partner likes a good foot massage!

BossArts, an Aveda salon and spa downtown at Laurier and Elgin, is perfect for a lunch-time treat if you work in the area. Try the Caribbean pedicure with self-warming seaweed masque. If you tend to eschew polish in favour of a more natural look (or because you’d like to avoid the chemicals involved), then Oresta Korbutiak is your woman and ORESTA Organic Skin Care Confectionery is your place. The hallmark of this spa is its preference for all-natural, organic products without preservatives or other harsh chemicals. The luxurious “Chocolate and Roses” pedicure may make you forget all about polish anyway!

West-enders love Brook Street Spa in Kanata. With five different pedicure options, including a peppermint pedicure and one that focuses almost entirely on your tired legs, what’s not to love? We like the pedicure chairs with built-in massagers that you control yourself, and the fully licensed spa menu—so perhaps a little vino and blow-torched salmon sashimi salad with your cuticle treatment?

Do you live even further west and really love wine with your pedi? Word on the street is that the wine is free at Mahogany Salon and Spa in Stittsville. Just don’t abuse the privilege!

Flip-flops aren’t going away soon—so what more excuse could you possibly need for a one-hour spa treat? Your toes (and your spirits) will thank you!
