Hey there daddy-o. There’s an unreal party place throwing a bash this weekend and you’re invited. So get on the stick and make the scene (with your kids that is—you won’t get in without them) at this 1950’s themed, all-under-one-roof birthday party pad (poodle skirts included).
Stir Crazy Family Fun Centre is located near the junction of 16th Avenue and 36 Street NE. Clad in black-and-white checkerboard, chrome and geometric patterns, this bright and shiny facility is a blast from the past.
With six colour-themed party rooms such as Sublime Lime or Mellow Yellow, strategically placed around a two-story ice-cream shop inspired-play structure, kids up to age 12 will be on cloud nine come birthday time. And you will be too. Stir Crazy offers inclusive party packages complete with cake (made on site), balloons and loot bags. The basic party package costs $249 for eight kids and can be fully booked online.
Tack on extras like face painting, glitter tattoos or an hour in the private games room. With a 60-inch plasma screen, and up-to-date Wii and Playstations (they didn’t have those in the 50’s) with games for up to four players at a time, even older kids (or older siblings) will have it made in the shade.
Plans are in the works for a carry-out cake service, and you can currently purchase loot bags for an at-home party. Plus, for the do-it-yourself baker, Stir Crazy offers cake-pan rental. There are 550 different cake pans available, including themed characters, vehicles and animals. Rental service costs $19.99 and comes with decorator bags and tips, as well as a cake board for display. Also, look for on-site workshops to learn the art of face painting and cake decorating.
In keeping with the theme, kids can also decorate their own cupcakes or sundaes anytime at the cupcake counter.
Parents will enjoy the free WiFi, plasma TVs, nursing room and gated Tot Lounge for kids four and under. Admission is $8.99 for kids, $6.99 for toddlers and an additional $2 for grownups. Or, purchase an annual membership for $125.99.
Grand-opening celebrations kick off tomorrow at 10 am. Each of the party rooms will have special activities for kids and parents all weekend long.
