Fun with Food
I do not like green eggs and ham
I do not like them, Mom and Dad
I do not like to eat your food
I’m simply never in the mood
But if you made my meals more fun
I could become the perfect son
And if you let me help prepare
I think that I might just, I might,
Start to eat and stop the fight.
There is a mountain of evidence that points to the importance of eating together as a family and of involving children in healthy food choices. The pressure.
But never fear, it can be fun
‘Cause we have found another one
A new book that improves your mood
While the kids can have some fun with food
Get the kids involved in the menu planning with the latest from the world of Dr. Seuss, the Green Eggs and Ham Cookbook. The author, Georgeane Brennan (an award-winning cookbook author and journalist) combed through all 44 Dr. Seuss books to discover wacky Seussian foods to bring to life.
Developed as a cookbook for adults and children to use together, the zany recipes were developed to be family-friendly and deliciously good, using fresh fruits and veggies and other healthy ingredients such as olive oil, yogurt and whole grains. Every recipe has a component that the children can do safely and many of the recipes require no chopping, cooking or electrical appliances so children can make them with little assistance.
Our savvy testers enjoyed the Scrambled Eggs Super-Dee-Dooper-Dee-
Booper, Special De Luxe a-la-Peter T. Hooper, the Pink Ink Drink and the River of Nobsk Corn-off-the-Cobsk, and there are 39 more recipes to make included in the book.
As well, each recipe is accompanied by the original verse that inspired it and a photograph of the fantastical concoction you are about to create, and (very savvy) the pages are laminated to protect against drips of Zans’ Can Chili or Who-Pudding.
With the year 2007 marking the 50th birthday of the Cat in the Hat, the Green Eggs and Ham Cookbook makes a great family gift and will provide hours of (practical) entertainment for long winter days. Better than a craft—you can eat the results.
So if you cook
With this book
Your kids might find
A chef inside
And they will likely want to eat
What they have made, fish, fowl or meat.
