Ottawa: The Savvy Guide to September

Sorry babe, summer’s over. Sandy and Danny have to leave the beach and get back to reality and so do you.
Here is our Savvy Guide to September to help you with the transition:
PLAY
With all the toys that sat in the back of the garage or basement all summer.
Why? They don’t have to be brand-new-to-you to get the kids’ attention. Dig them out and switch them up and they’ll be as good as new when it comes to the fun factor.
GET
A new workout plan (and maybe an outfit if you can) now that running-around-outside season is about to end.
Why? ‘New’ will help motivate you (see above) and it’s important to stay healthy and look after yourself so you can look after everyone else too.
GO
Apple picking
Why? So your kids understand what local produce means, because they are healthy and because it’s fun. We like Kilmarnock Orchard and their 25 different varieties.
GREEN IT
Get an energy audit of your home done in time for Jack Frost’s arrival.
Why? You will learn new ways to save energy, money and you might even be eligible for a government rebate against the cost of any upgrades you need.
HELP
Keep the Capital Clean.
Why? Because you can and you should. To find out more go to ottawa.ca/clean or call 3-1-1 (TTY: 613-580-2401).
