Go Nouveau
It’s a new season with new teachers and new shoes. But sometimes a girl needs a new place to find more new stuff—like a new shop, for example. Maybe one with a little European flair….
Luckily, we have found three brand spanking new stores which have popped up around the GTA, and each brings with it a little joie de vivre to the ‘hood it is in.
French-designed children’s clothing store La Compagnie Des Petits has just opened its doors (and in fact its first store in Canada) in Bramalea City Centre catering to kids ages zero to ten. Moms all over Europe and Australia have been enjoying the colourful and vibrant style of children’s clothing and reasonable prices at La Compagnie Des Petits for years now. With more than 200 stores worldwide, La Compagnie Des Petits has plans to expand to more than 10 stores throughout Ontario within the next few years. Grab a croissant and go! What’s New? Euro style at Canadiana prices
If you’re up on Eglinton West, you’ll want to visit the new and uber stylish Gretchen & Co. located conveniently next to Phipps. (Where you might just find a croissant, among other yummy treats.) Just walking into this beautifully decorated store makes you feel as if you are in a Parisian boutique, surrounded by European children’s designers and some of Gretchen & Co.’s own private label line of cashmere dresses, blankets and hoodies. Stylish but practical, Gretchen & Co. is equipped with a play area for children and a diaper changing station. There is even an espresso bar and sitting area for moms to relax. Make sure you look up—the ceiling is decorated with whimsical birdcages—Gretchen’s flight of fancy you could say. What’s New? Beautifully made top drawer children’s labels not before available in Canada
Unionville has a new addition to the retail landscape with just-opened Sweet Pea Children’s Boutique, featuring unique gear and clothing for infants and children up to size 7. They too offer some French and Euro brands including Blu and Petit Lem and some of our very favourite lines such as Deux Par Deux, Fleurville and JJ Cole. You’ll also find strollers and other necessities in the mix. Owner and SavvyMom Jen Kamphuys wanted to open a store where moms in Unionville could find the perfect gift or special item, so careful attention has been paid to bring in the “unexpected”.
And going green was a consideration as well, so Sweet Pea features a number of ecologically responsible and organic products for little ones. As for the croissants, you might need to bring your own. What’s New? A store where the unexpected is expected
So if you set out to shop, we wish you bon voyage.
