Stay Seated
Nothing brings a family together like a good meal—at home or at a local resto. Inviting a two year old energizer bunny, however, can sometimes cause stress for mom. We hope that some of these handy items might help—but we can’t promise to keep them sitting down the entire meal…
Sitting Pretty
We’ve raved about the Boon Flair Chair before. We love how easy it is to clean, but we also love that the pedestal base, removable tray and adjustable height lets it push right up and become a seat at the table. (Available at www.babiesrus.ca for $249.99)
Getting Higher
If junior has graduated from sitting in the high chair already, then the mantra of “sit on your bottom, not on your knees” is probably often heard crossing your lips. Maybe the chair needs a lift instead of him—try giving him a boost so he can reach his food with KABOOST. It’s a nifty gizmo that snaps to the bottom of a chair to make it taller (not your child). As an added bonus, the chair becomes sturdier, preventing accidental tipping. (Available at www.stylekid.ca for $39.95)
Being Mobile
If you are looking for something a bit more portable, we have the latest and greatest solution for that too. It’s called the HandySitt and it’s well, quite handy. It’s pretty cool but practical too. They call it the world’s best looking high chair, but we like it because it’s designed to transform any adult chair into a high chair for your babe. It’s useful at home and for on-the-go. (Available at www.inhabitshop.com, $159)
Eating It
Finally, our new favourite utensil for little kids has to be the Bambu Spork. As fun as its name, the half spoon, half fork is perfectly made for little hands learning to feed themselves (hallejulah!) and gives kids the option to either scoop or spear the food in front of them. Since it’s free of any kiddie designs, our older eaters loved the Spork so much they wanted one for their lunch box. What we loved? The price and that they are made out of a renewable resource (adios plastic). (Available at www.babyonthehip.ca for $5)
