What Not to Cook
What to wear…?
Something that can take you from playgroup to the office and out to dinner for girl’s night? It’s a tough one, finding the right style.
What to cook…?
Heating up that can of ravioli again? PB & J? Clearly a makeover might be in order here.
We understand your challenges so we set out to find some solutions for you—at least on the food front.
Read on—you’re sure to find one that will suit [pun intended] you.
The “Ready to Wear”
The Six O’Clock Scramble is an online menu planner, emailed to you every Wednesday, providing a weeknight’s worth of easy-to-prepare recipes and a cleverly cross-referenced and categorized shopping list that helps you shop more efficiently.
The brainchild of Aviva Goldfarb, mom of two and cooking ‘stylist’ to thousands, the Scramble provides a variety of family-friendly meals for $4.95 (US) a month. The subscription pays for itself in no time with one less take-out meal.
The “Designer”
SupperWorks, the creation of two busy Oakville moms, offers a great new concept that takes the schlep and prep out of supper for you.
Just choose your preferred entrees online, go to their beautiful kitchen, move from station to station (set up like salad bars) and assemble your meals. Bring your friends (and a bottle of wine—better than book club) and in 1 or 2 hours you have produced 6 to 12 dinners for 4.
Imagine that…a week or two’s worth of dinner that YOU prepared in the freezer when you get home. (Pricing runs at about $4 per serving.) What’s not to like? This place is SO worth the trip to Oakville (if you’re not out that way) and we heard from a reliable source that expansion plans are in the works for 2006.
The “Haute Couture”
Still need more help? We know your type. You have specific dietary requirements too, right?
Well, you are not alone and LemonTree Personal Chef Services can help.
We tested out this full (and we mean full) service option and we highly recommend it (especially for new moms). Chef Monique Taylor will meet with you to understand any health concerns, ingredient restrictions, allergies or other dietary needs, and then tailor a customized family menu to your approval.
She then brings everything needed to prepare the meals in your home, and when all is complete, your kitchen is left spotless with only aromas lingering. All you need to do is heat and enjoy your custom-made dinners. (Pricing runs from about $19 per serving.)
So choose your new dinner style. This is one makeover your whole family will benefit from.
