Share the Love

Family Pastimes Cooperative Games

Secretly we know that Valentine’s Day is a bit of a work project for moms. Cards for everyone in the class, cookies, chocolates and bright red artwork all over your kitchen. Apparently it’s the third biggest commercial holiday now, and we’re not surprised.

But we are good moms, and in the spirit of love, we submit.

After all, the world could do with a little more love.

So start by sharing the love at home this year on V-Day (and all year long) with the cooperative games from Family Pastimes. We don’t mean the “let’s play restaurant and set the table for mommy” kind of cooperative game (although that’s not a bad thing either).

Cooperative games are board games where the players actually work TOGETHER as a team—not against each other like enemies.

Nobody wins, nobody loses. The point of the game is usually to discover something or solve a problem, thus fostering principles of teamwork, participation and trust.

Did we mention that they are FUN? (Our Savvy Scouts certainly thought so.)

Family Pastimes games have been produced by the Deacove family in Perth, Ontario, since 1970. Jim Deacove was looking for ways to teach his children the values of sharing, caring and helping others (challenging tasks, to be sure)—and Family Pastimes was born.

With 95 different games to choose from (Princess, Bambino Dino, Hotel Ritz, Behind the Secret Door and Walk in the Woods to name but a few—everyone’s interests are covered), and designed for ages three to adult, we’re sure your family can find one to love. Prices range from $10 – 20 (well worth the investment).

So this Valentine’s Day teach your kids to share the love at home.

Then, after they’re in bed, get cozy with your beloved and practice your own cooperation.

Available at most independent toy stores near you. Limited selection available online at Mastermind Toys

For more details on store availability please contact Family Pastimes and they will help you find the game you desire.
