Sometimes it feels like there are no new birthday party ideas—especially if you’re looking to entertain a class full of kids in the winter or early spring. We know you want to be a social innovator and throw a fab new bash, so we found some novel ideas for you.
Film Festivity
Jen Schlumberger, owner of Hollywood Birthday Parties, is a professional improv actor (and very talented kid-wrangler) who will happily come to your home to make movie magic. With her tickle trunk of costumes and unique way of turning chaos into creativity, she will help your party-goers script and star in the movie of their dreams. She doesn’t guide the kids in a specific direction, but instead lets their creativity take them wherever they want to go. The finished and edited movie will arrive for each attendee on their own DVD three weeks after the party.
Philanthropist Party
If your child has a heart of gold, consider hosting a birthday party at Bravery Hearts. This sweet boutique is located just off of Avenue Road, north of Lawrence and hosts very special parties. Their cheerful staff will help each guest bead two beautiful necklaces or bracelets (one for themselves and one for a patient at the Hospital for Sick Children). Craft time will also include creating a special card filled with words of support for the child in the hospital making it a party that will leave everyone feeling better.
Co-operative Celebration
The name is a bit misleading. When we first heard about Dynamix Kidvivor parties, we worried that our guests would be getting voted off the island. It’s actually the opposite. Think less about tribal council and more about the team challenges made famous on Survivor. Kidvivor works with you to customize team-building activities for your partygoers and creates a common sense of fun for everyone involved. The activities usually need a bigger space than your home may allow, but the company has great relationships with lots of community centres across the GTA and will help you find a great place to party.
Bug Bash
Appreciating all things creepy, crawly and clingy comes naturally to kids and the staff at Bugs Without Borders. They can see the beauty in almost anything. Cockroach = cool. Snake = sick. Birthday party with giant millipedes, lizards and tarantulas = Best. Party. Ever! Bugs Without Borders will bring some of the craziest creatures you’ve ever seen to your home (yes, they do count them all before they leave) and put on an interactive and exciting show that your birthday child will love!
Now sit back and soak up all the praise for being an innovative birthday bash mom. Then you can clean up.
