Feeling Groovy

Groove Creative Arts Centre
Get your groove on

Sometimes it can be hard to find your groove, particularly when a new term of extra-curricular programming starts.

You know the drill. Karate gets bumped to Wednesday to make room for dance, which now conflicts with your other child’s music lessons on the far side of town. You need to hunt for a cooking class for your budding mini-chef and if you could only find time to fit in a yoga class for you, you’d be oh-so ohm.

If the start of term is causing chaos, a quick visit to Groove Creative Arts Centre will make you feel groovy. This centrally-located (on Eglinton between Bathurst and Avenue) bright, airy, multi-studio space just opened its freshly-painted doors on January 4 and promises to become a hub of preschool and after-school fun.

Some of our favourite programs will be running out of this facility. Of course there will be the Groove School of Dance, but we are thrilled that The CookeryDoo and North Toronto Karate will be joining in the fun as well. Preschoolers will enjoy the midday programs offered by Singing with Sonshine and Broccoli, Whimz Live Animals and Salsa Tots.

But, here’s what makes Groove really different. Centre founder Angela Williams has cleverly scheduled some must-do grown-up activities at the same time as some of her kid classes. Doing a yoga, Zumba or kickboxing class sounds like a great way to pass the time while your child is learning hip hop in the other room.

Groove also hosts family fun nights on Fridays so the entire family can dance the night away.

Sounds like it might be time to get your groove on.
