The holidays are approaching and we have a list of things to buy, things to do, things to cook and places to go. Admittedly, we can get a bit carried away, but spending time with our family over the holidays is what we look forward to most, and it’s a good time to take stock of what we have and what we are grateful for.
At SavvyMom we are grateful to be spending the holidays with our families (and believe us when we say we are looking forward to the break). We also know that there are some families who will have children in the hospital over the holidays, and our thoughts are with them. To our surprise, we learned that The Hospital for Sick Children needs $2.5 million to replace most of its beds, cribs, mattresses and stretchers. Parts for aging equipment can no longer be found, and the hospital is spending funds to rent specialty mattresses because the older mattresses contribute to skin breakdown, a condition suffered by many of the tiny patients.
So in the interest of making these tiny patients’ hospital stays more comfortable, we are endeavoring to raise $20,000 to buy 50 new therapeutic crib mattresses for the hospital. We’re asking for your help, and we hope the SavvyMom community will come together so we can reach our goal.
If only 400 of our SavvyMoms donate $50 each, we can get there and if 1,000 SavvyMoms donate $20 each we’ll meet it just as easily. So if you are looking for a way to help others this season, we hope you’ll consider helping SickKids.
Give now to the SavvyMom Holiday Crib Campaign and together we can work toward our shared vision of: Healthier Children. A Better World.
All kids should be able to rest easy.
