Green Giving

New Pistachio Store Opening
Pistachio Store

It’s time to accumulate, distribute and accumulate again. (Busy, busy.) But even with all the good stuff we’ll be giving and receiving, there is often a lot of waste and we just can’t help but feel a twinge of guilt about that.

If you are thinking about being more green this year on the accumulation front, if you are looking for ways to reduce your carbon footprint or at least minimize your waste, there is a new kid in town to help you get started. It’s called Pistachio and it’s a beautiful store filled with lots of stuff you might be looking for about this time of year. Choose from beautifully designed recycled paper holiday cards and wrapping paper (much of which is designed by the Pistachio team and manufactured right here in Canada), sustainable gifts for the home and all natural apothecary items. Everything in this shop has been hand picked by co-owners Kirsten Chapman and Tracie Wagman who have impeccable taste and a genuine eco-conscience. But they don’t believe in abandoning or refusing the things they love in support of the environment—instead they aim to design, develop and offer products in more informed, eco-friendly ways.

The first Pistachio store opened this fall on Yonge Street (just north of Eglinton) and we are bracing ourselves for a brand spanking new location about to open November 21 at Yorkdale Mall. Perfect timing, wouldn’t you say? (Savvy tip—go early for a good parking spot and have a coffee while you wait for stores to open.)

Look for our favourite Buddha bowls to fill up with coffee, tea or hot chocolate (a little something for you) and lots of savvy items we found that didn’t break the bank. Great novelty gifts or stocking stuffers include the Pistachio playdate cards ($7.99), Klean Kanteen sippy cups ($28.99 including sippy top), bamboo forks and spoons by Bambu ($6.99 a set), Yummy Earth organic lollipops ($2 a bag) and a selection of all natural, groovy grooming products for the men in your life (try the Man Can for $49). For the new baby, our fave is the NooNoo comfort blanket—soft, cozy and very sweet ($45).

Pistachio is the new green it seems—and it’s a very stylish hue.
