Happy New Year.
Whoopee.
We hope you got what you wanted under the tree and had just a few minutes of rest and relaxation too.
Anyway, here are a few ways to ensure you have a happy and healthy start to 2008.
DO
Book your March vacation.
Why? There is nothing wrong with having a little something to look forward to, is there?
PLAY
With Steven and Chris (you know, the original Designer Guys).
Why? Because they have a fab new show called Steven and Chris (of course!) on CBC starting in January and you can join them in their studio audience—for fun and for free. Call (416) 205-3504 for tickets.
GET
A programmable thermostat.
Why? Because it will save you money and energy.
GO
To the ROM.
Why? To see the dinos in all their glory in the new James and Louise Temerty Galleries of the Age of Dinosaurs. The newly remounted life size dino specimens are back (and some new ones too) displayed in world class architectural space. (If only the dinos knew how good they have it now.) Plan your visit at www.rom.on.ca/dinos.
GREEN IT
Unplug your appliances—when they are turned off.
Why? 40% of all electricity is used to power home appliances while they’re turned off. If all the “phantom loads” in homes across North America were eliminated, we could shut down more than 17 power plants. (A “phantom load” is the energy that’s sapped by appliances when they’re plugged in.)
HELP
Join the SavvyMoms Believe Campaign.
Why? Because we know you might not have had a chance to do so during the holidays, and we understand. We still need more contributions for that transport incubator we are hoping to give to the hospital though.
Wishing you health and happiness (and anything else you have on your wish list) for 2008.
The team at SavvyMom has some great plans in store for our readers this year and we look forward to spreading more of the savvy word to you in 2008.
