Toronto: The Savvy Guide to May

May 2007

We promised last month—May brings flowers (and we don’t mean HE may bring flowers, we mean Mother Nature).

May is one of the best months of the year. Get out and enjoy it—here are some ideas to inspire you.

DO
Keep all those Earth Day promises you made last week.
Why? For your kids, why else?

HELP
Buy your tickets to A Family Affair and see The Doodlebops , Kids’ Favourite Rockin’ Band LIVE! Get their autograph too.
Why? Because there is only one more week to get tickets and we are guessing there are some Doodlebop fans in your house! Come out, support SickKids Foundation and enjoy a day for the kids in all of us. Click here for ticket information.

GET
A folding chair to take to the park, people’s backyards, soccer practice, etc. Keep it in your car so it is always there when you need it.
Why? Because this is the season when you are spending a lot of time outside (on the damp grass) watching your children play—whatever the game.

PLAY
Hopscotch, jump rope (double dutch, anyone?) or road hockey with your kids.
Why? It’s good for you, it’s good for them and it’s going to get hotter than Hades soon. Enjoy the weather (and your kids) while you can.

GO
To the annual Rites of Spring Celebration at Riverdale Farm on May 5 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.
Why? Have you ever seen sheep shearing, knitting and spinning? The kids will love it (and if they don’t, they’ll at least enjoy the musical entertainment).

Have a very happy month of May and start planting all those Mother’s Day hints now. We’ll have some more on that topic very soon so stay tuned….
