Toronto: The Savvy Guide to October

October 2007

Are you SO OVER back to school? Us too, and hey, October has a long weekend and Halloween so there is lots to do. We’ve got some ideas to prepare you for the month.

DO
Figure out where and when you’re getting your turkey (we call it the ‘turkey plan’).
Why? Because Thanksgiving is early this year. We don’t want it to creep up on you.

PLAY
In the kitchen and roast pumpkin seeds with the kids.
Why? It’s easy and they are ridiculously healthy. Click here for a simple how-to recipe and info on just how good they are for you.

GET
The Magic Ring for your yard waste bags.
Why? Even a child can rake and load now (because it allows the bag to stand or lay fully open), so you can get some help raking this fall.

GO
Buy some nut-free candy. Nestle snack size Favourites are made in peanut free facilities—and that makes our lives a lot easier.
Why? You always remember to stay nut free for school or playgroup snacks but did you think about it for Halloween treats?

GREEN IT
Walk to school with your kids.
Why? October 1 - 5 is International Walk to School Week. Besides, walking emits conversation between you and your kids, not carbons.

HELP
Check out Shop SickKids for some gift ideas.
Why? They are having a 50% off sale. (Who needs to go to Buffalo?)

There you have it. Enjoy the bounties of the season and the ghosts and goblins too.
